The Circle Newspaper will run writers workshops in this Summer to recruit new voices to writing. The workshops are designed to cover the basics of newspaper reporting and writing for all types of articles, news, opinion pieces.
In the four week workshops, students will:
Understand journalistic terms and vocabulary.
Understand the structure of news articles
Develop peer editing and proof reading skills
Identify the purposes of a newspaper writing.
Apply the Who -What -When -Where -Why -How writing technique.
Write an effective news story.
Use basic editing principles.
Apply basic layout principles.
Produce a class newspaper
Students will demonstrate the ability to write a newspaper story following guidance of experienced journalists.
